The Award Winning Academy of Theatre Arts has had long standing success for many years, winning numerous dance titles and being named the "Best Dance Theatre School in Great Britain." Students have performed in theatres all over the Untied Kingdom & Europe, including Saddlers Wells, Her Majesty's Theatre, The London Palladium and many more. Students have performed for Disney Land Paris during the summer season. The Award Winning Lynne Millar Song & Dance Troupe wooed audiences in Blackpool, Southport, Wales & Ireland in their UK tour a few years ago.
Since then, students have gone on to many professional theatre schools in the UK such as: Laine Theatre Arts London, Performers London, London Studio Centre, Stella Mann, Millennium and many more. The Academy's students are now being welcomed Internationally to schools as prestigious as The New York Film Academy, the schools of many Hollywood Stars' siblings including Steven Speilberg's son and Pierce Brosnon's son. The Canadian Performing Arts School has opened its doors to the Academy Students and a troupe will be selected in the next few weeks to represent the Academy on an all-expenses-paid trip to Toronto where they will perform to open the Fabulous Miss Canada Contest!!
The Academy of Theatre Arts is proud to be the United Kingdom Headquarters for the World Famous AMTC - American Model & Talent Company - and through their association with this company now works closely with top casting directors both here in the UK and Internationally. The Academy Agency is now up and running, and we are very excited to launch this with our glossy Agency book which will be held by all casting directors world wide.
The Academy has been the interest of the media for many years with press and TV interest, and this continues as their size and reputation grows. The Academy was featured on STV's Business Bites, it has just completed a Channel Four documentary with Celador Productions (maker of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire) Called 'Give That Kid A Contract,' and is currently in talks with production companies over what looks to be the biggest child talent search ever!! Kirsty McDonald - Dancer with Claire Sweeney / Dancer - Grease Mania ITV / Lead Dancer & Main Vocalist - P & O Cruises / Dancer & Lead Vocalist: USA Tour of Spirit of Broadway - Kirsty was a guest on Three American TV chat shows in her time out in the US including Good Morning America. She performed in NYC & then onto the infamous Kodak Theatre (home of the Oscars) in LA & met Stars such as Bobby Brown & Al Pacino who came back stage to compliment her performance!! She is now in talks with international agents but has put this on hold to accept one of the leading roles in the Hit Musical, 'We Will Rock You.'
Sam Angell (www.samangell.com) a present Academy Student - at the ripe old age of 11yrs has already clinched the lead in a West End Show, 'Billy Elliot the Musical.' Sam who already has international representation in both NYC & in LA, is well on his way to success. Through the AMTC convention in July 2005, Sam was picked up by a top agent & manager. He has had callbacks for Broadway leading roles and is a favorite of Paul Weber, in-house Casting Director, MGM! Sam also received huge interest from Sony BMG in London in Autumn last year. Sam is currently working over 20 hours per week for his role in 'Billy Elliot.' Details of his first performance will be posted, keep watching!
Nicola Duffy - a member of the Academy was the first British Student ever to be offered Scholarship to the Prestigious New York Film Academy, through the AMTC Convention. NYFA is the chosen training centre of the Hollywood Stars & she will be rubbing shoulders with Steven Speilberg's son and many more... She is leaving for NYC in June 2006... We are very proud of her and know she will put Scotland on the map out in the Big Apple!! Nicola, who is also an excellent dancer, won our Best Dancer at our prestigious Academy Awards in December 2005 and was Overall Dance Winner at the AMTC Convention in July 2005.
Michelle Gray decided to try her luck at the AMTC convention only a month ago and followed quickly in Nicola's footsteps clinching a Scholarship for the New York Film Academy as well as being offered a place in The School of The Performing Arts in Canada, Canadian representation and a manager!! She has tough decisions to make...but it looks like we will be sending yet another Academy student off to make their fame & fortune in the not too distant future!!
Jane Louise Jackson one of our Musical Theatre students who excels in the vocal department has been writing her own music for some time now. Jane, who is also a guitarist, won overall Vocalist at our prestigious Academy Awards and impressed the judges to no end!! She has now just recorded three of her own songs for the Chayil Entertainment Production Company in LA.... Watch this space for more news on Jane!!
Mari Houston, a well known face in the Academy and Overall Winner of The Academy Awards 2005, has had numerous success from the AMTC convention. Mari who was out in July 2005, decided to take her chances again in January after receiving a scholarship from the lovely Arban family who own AMTC and it certainly paid off for her!! She received numerous callbacks and was offered representation--she also caught the attention of Twentieth Century Fox's Christian Kaplan, who is considering her for a part in his latest blockbuster!!
Caitlin Mulvey one of our present Academy students at just 12yrs of age is the only British kid to head out to LA for Pilot season!! Caitlin who has won the Overall Child Dancer at the AMTC convention in 2005, has a fantastic LA management & agency team behind her. She has only been out there for one week and is already receiving callbacks for dance commercials and is presently being mentored by the former head of Disney!! She had open talks with Disney recently and we are waiting to hear how it will go.. keep watching!!
Zara Weir & Lois Chimimba have just completed their breakthrough performances in Aladdin in the Pavilion Theatre Glasgow. We are sure that this will be the first of many professional performances for both girls. They were both finalists in the Festival 4 Stars Contest in 2005.
Danielle McInness another Festival for Stars finalist in 2005, has gone from strength to strength in her training and preparation for the AMTC convention in January 2006. Danielle has not only been offered representation but also to perform in a Christmas Spectacular in New York City later this year...
Jo Turbitt who came to the Academy only to train for the AMTC convention has under taken a new look on our recommendation and training. She then went on to win Overall Commercial Model with her new transformation and is currently in talks with several people in LA and NYC. She also received a highly coveted callback with MGM's Paul Weber. Keep watching for an update on Jo!!
